Build

Let's build an AI firefighter robot

Build a classroom robot that finds a pretend fire, then acts out putting it out and rescuing people.

What does our firefighter robot need?

Pretend fire
Fire truck
  • LED BlockShows a fire or a face.
  • Master BlockA pretend fire hose. Acts out spraying water.
  • Sound BlockSends alerts with sound.
  • DC Motor Block ×2Strong wheels for the fire truck.

Code

How does our robot respond?

Mission 1
  • A pretend fire!
  • Draw a fire on the LED.
Mission 2
  • Red detected?
  • Siren → move forward → spray water → LED fire off
Mission 3
  • Person detected?
  • Look around → siren → rescue signal → mission complete

If nothing is detected, the robot waits.

Open the app

Open the Advanced Cubroid app and tap the Group Number icon.

Group Number

Match the sticker number

Enter the same number shown on the block's sticker.

Group Number1

Power on, then connect

Turn on the blocks and connect them to the app.

Start a new project

Tap the + button to open a new project.

Draw the fire on the LED

Draw two different fire pictures. Showing them one after the other makes the fire blink.

Add the AI detection blocks

Add the red color-detection block and the arms-up pose-detection block.

One function for each detection

Make one action function for each detection block: one for red and one for arms up.

Red found: put out the fire

When red is found, sound the siren. Move forward and act out spraying water. Then turn off the LED fire.

Change the number of forward steps to fit the distance. You can repeat the spraying effect.

Arms up: rescue the person

When raised arms are found, look left and right, sound the siren and send an alert. Then show a smiling face.

Try it out

Check and run the whole program

Tap Play and see what happens.

A friend wears red and raises both arms. What happens?

Is the fire truck moving backward?

If the truck moves backward, tap the motor direction button.

Want it to notice faster?

If detection is slow, set the delay to about 0.5 seconds in Settings, then run it again.

Settings · Delay0.5 s
